101 Craze & Crackle
is a permanent, archival medium made to craze or crackle nearly any semi-rigid
or rigid surface. It dries to an opaque, matte, and durable finish. It
may be blended with various wet or dry colorants. After drying, lines
will appear as fine crazing in thin layers and crackling with thicker
applications. Allowed to cure/dry naturally, 1/8" thick will completely
craze within 4 to 6 hours. Covering with any UV paint is advised to prevent
eventual yellowing. Coverage: Approx. 8 oz. applied 1/16" thick = 220
sq. in., ¼" thick = 45 sq. in.

| Tips
for Using 101 Craze & Crackle |
Crazing:
Apply about 1/32" of 101 Craze & Crackle to a rigid surface.
Use a palette knife or credit card to spread. Note that fine crazing will
appear when applied thinly. Cover the surface completely to achieve the
fine crazing.
Crackling: Applied any thicker than
1/16" thick you will notice crackling. The thicker the 101, the crackling
will appear deeper and spread further apart.
Mixing: 101 Craze & Crackle can
be mixed with Lumiere or any other acrylic based paints. Note: In thinner
applications, adding a binder (paint or adhesive) to the 101 Craze &
Crackle, will prohibit crazing. Also in thinner applications, apply paint
to the surface after the 101 Craze & Crackle has completely cured.
In thicker applications, paint can be added in advance.
Texture: Use for faux stucco/aged
effects on decorative walls, paper mache, vases, rigid paper surfaces
such as mat board and canvas. Use 101 Craze & Crackle for altered
bookmaking, bookmaking, rubber stamping, scrapbooking or any art and craft
project!
Painting: First apply a dark color
of paint to the cracks. Let dry and then paint raised areas with a lighter
color paint-or-vice versa. A more luminous technique is to paint the crackle
with any acrylic paint. While still wet, rub Jewelz Powdered Pigments
in a contrasting color onto the raised areas.
Achieving Flexibility: 101 Craze & Crackle can
be made extremely flexible by flooding the entire finished crackled piece,
using Perfect Paper Adhesive. The adhesive permanently and firmly adheres
the fragmented islands to the surface, thus permitting the piece to be
bent and flexed.
