Technique – Mica Tile™ Encaustic Encapsulation
All materials italicized are available from USArtQuest
This technique is easy, quick and a very nice gift or gift tag for
pretty holiday packages. Because the mica is clear, the embossing powder
transparent, and the encaustics colorful, it will be very pretty when
lit from behind.

- Sprinkle UTEE
– Clear onto one piece of mica
- Heat with the heat
tool. When melted, stamp into it with an gold ink-filled leaf
stamp
- Set it aside to cool.
- Piece 2:
- Heat the Mica
with the heat tool, simultaneously heating the wax.
- Draw into the melted
wax with the pointed device, creating an overall ‘organic’
pattern.
- When complete, very quickly
reheat both pieces, taking great care not to disturb the patterning
on either piece. Quickly sandwich the two back together. They should
adhere. If they don’t, heat the whole sandwich from the top
and press down firmly with the Handy Clip.
- Set an eyelet and tie
it up with a pretty ribbon.
