Directions

Instructions for constructing the basic purse:

  1. Cut the tube to a desired length.
  2. Split the tube by cutting it down one side.
  3. Cut another piece from the tube. This will be the flap that will make the closure.
  4. Punch holes in this piece close together near the edge and centered for the purse latch.
  5. Punch holes in the tube body, near the edge, centered and lined up with the previous holes. Use the rubber band along with beads, charms or other findings for the closure.
  6. Cut the bookcloth to the appropriate length. Glue the cloth and let dry. This is the spine.
  7. Glue the discs along the sides of the tube to form the purse.
  8. Paint and decorate the finished constructed purse. Add the chord, beads and other embellishments.

Sample shown:

  1. Mix Pearl Ex and Perfect Paper Adhesive - gloss to make an acrylic paint. Paint the tube parts and discs.
  2. When dry, drizzle a pattern onto the surface using the 101 Artist's Cement - Heavy. Let dry.
  3. Paint only the 101 areas with Duo Embellishing Adhesive and let dry. The Duo will turn clear and tacky.
  4. When dry, use Gildenglitz to gild the tacky areas. Remove excess and burnish with a Texture Sponge.
  5. Use several colors of Piñata Inks to glaze the entire tube.
  6. Glue the discs to the ends of the tube.
  7. Decorate the discs with WireWorks.
  8. Use the bookcloth and cording to create the hinges and necklace parts.
  9. Use WireWorks and beads to create the catch and latch.
